Wastewater Treatment & Recycling Solutions

Whether oily emulsions, process and wash waters, or contaminated rinse media – in disposal and recycling operations, composition and requirements often change from day to day. Depending on the task, our wastewater treatment and recycling solutions combine evaporation and ultrafiltration into a coherent system concept: from mechanical separation without chemicals to energy-efficient concentration with high distillate quality.

This reduces wastewater volumes and disposal costs, recovers water for reuse, and delivers stable, traceable results even with fluctuating waste streams.

EVAPORATORS

Evaporators are a proven solution when wastewater is heavily contaminated or its composition changes frequently. The process separates water thermally and produces a distillate that, depending on the application, can be returned to the process or safely discharged. Pollutants such as oils, surfactants, salts, or heavy metals are concentrated in the concentrate, significantly reducing wastewater volume and disposal costs. Combined with suitable pre- and post-treatment, stable results can be achieved, discharge limits can be reliably met, and operation can be documented in a process-safe manner even with fluctuating waste streams.

ET MaXx ZLD

MAXIMUM CONCENTRATION OF INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER STREAMS WITH ZERO LIQUID DISCHARGE

The ET MaXx ZLD extends MKR evaporation technology with an additional stage for further concentration.

After evaporation, the concentrate is further processed, minimizing the remaining water content and increasing the concentration of valuable substances. The distillate can be returned to the production process, while the residual volume is significantly reduced.

The result is a nearly closed water cycle in line with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).

Module

Modules make wastewater treatment flexible: filtration, ultrafiltration, evaporation as well as pre- and post-treatment can be combined as required and expanded when needed. This keeps the system adaptable, even when wastewater streams and requirements change.

Accessories

Accessories meaningfully complement the system: pumps, tanks, sensors, as well as measuring and control technology can be selected and integrated to match. This ensures stable and efficient operation, even when media, volumes, and day-to-day conditions change flexibly and reliably.

FILTRATION TECHNOLOGY

Filtration technology is ideal when wastewater already contains components that are easy to separate, such as oils, solids, or emulsions. Depending on the task, processes such as ultrafiltration, fine filtration, or suitable pre-filters are used to reliably remove interfering substances and improve water quality for reuse or downstream steps.

This lowers wastewater volume, reduces disposal and operating costs, and stabilizes the overall process—especially with fluctuating inflows. At the same time, systems can be designed modularly and expanded if needed, so the solution continues to fit your wastewater streams and requirements long-term.

When Is Filtration Sufficient, and When Is Evaporation Needed?

Not every industrial wastewater stream requires an evaporator system right away. If process media need to be reused and the main objective is to remove interfering substances, filtration or ultrafiltration is often sufficient.

Typical tasks of filtration include:

  • removing particles, chips and sludge
  • separating oils, greases and emulsions
  • stabilizing washing and degreasing baths
  • reducing bath changes
  • keeping process media usable for longer

Evaporation becomes relevant when wastewater volumes need to be significantly reduced, complex industrial media must be treated or process water should be recovered. In this process, water is thermally separated from the wastewater. The result is a distillate, which can be reused or post-treated depending on its quality, and a concentrate, in which the retained substances are collected.

In many applications, the best solution is a combination of both technologies: filtration stabilizes the medium, while evaporation technology further reduces liquid residual streams. MKR evaluates the medium, contamination load, flow rate and required target quality to develop the right process solution — from filtration and ultrafiltration to evaporation and Zero Liquid Discharge concepts.
